What Is Your Foundation

Jesus tells a parable of a rich man who seeks to increase his wealth to the point where he needs to tear down his storehouse and build a new one. The problem is the man didn't consider everything that was necessary to support the wealth he was building. He didn't consider the foundation that he needed to lay for the new structure. He was a fool and in the end he lost his life perhaps because of this; but even if not because of this, he discovered that what he had built would not last forever because of the inadequate foundation.

What is the foundation you are building your life and legacy on?

The Promise, the Pause, and the Power

God promised to pour out His Spirit on His people. When Isaiah spoke of this, noone knew when this would happen. When Jesus arrived on the scene, we began to see some of this promise yet no one, including His disciples, fully understood what the promise meant. Jesus instructed His disciples to wait in Jerusalem until the promise of the Father was manifested. When the Holy Spirit arrived on Pentecost, the disciples knew it and their eyes were opened to all that Jesus had taught them in the previous 3 1/2 years. This same power and Spirit is available to us all today if we but believe and ask.

Passion of Jesus Part 4

With Psalm 22 as the scriptural basis for this Good Friday message, we look at not only the prophecy of Jesus' death but also our role in His death. The ultimate sacrifice that God made; why God was not silent during the final events of Jesus' life. This Good Friday message is a powerful message that will give you a lot to think about and meditate on.

Passion of Jesus Part 3

This is the third in the series examing the last week in the life of Jesus in His human body. In this message, we examine the trial of Jesus before the high priest and the Sanhedrin. However before we get into the details of the trial, we take a look at Proverbs 20:28 - "Steadfast love and faithfulness preserve the king, and by steadfast love his throne is upheld." This proverb sets the tone for tonight's message. The trial of Jesus, as unjust as it was, demonstrates the hesed love that God and Jesus, our King, had and have for us. Keep this in mind as you listen to this message about the suffering of Jesus at the hands of His people and the Romans.

Passion of Jesus Part 2

This week we continue to look at the final days of Jesus' life as a human being. After He celebrated the Passover meal with his disciples, Jesus was betrayed and handed over to the Pharisees. Jesus was fully aware that this was going to happen after all Jesus is God and was present in the beginning when God planned all of this. We examine the events starting with Genesis. Listen and be blessed.

Worship

Change may not happen overnight. It can a gradual process and includes worship. What does worship really involve? Singing songs of praise? Endless hours of prayer? Walking around with a sad face all day? Beginning with Jesus speaking to the Pharisee Simon and continuing with Jesus speaking to the Samaritan woman at the well, we take a look at what it means to worship God. It does involve spirit, truth, and more. In the end, woship involves doing everything to the glory of God and receiving everything with prayer and thanksgiving.

Get Off The Roller Coaster

Is your life a mess, full of up and down cycles? Are you happy one day, minute, hour then a hot mess -- angry, confused, depressed -- the next? Yep, you are caught on the roller coaster of life. Let's take a look at how your spiritual life has an effect on your physical life and the roller coaster. We are going to look at how Jesus' referred to His hour on several occasions and when His hour did arrive, it was for the His glorification and the glorification of the Father.

Matthew 8: Jesus Cleanses a Leper

Jesus has just finished a huge teaching (the Sermon on the Mount) and as he and his disciples are returning home, he is approached by a leper. As you listen to this message instead of hearing leperousy or leper, hear sins or sinner. When you do this it really becomes clear what it means to hear Jesus say "I will; be clean".

1 Samuel 14 - Part 1

Many lessons for today can be found in the Bible. Tonight's sermon is no different. Continuing in 1 Samuel, we find Saul waiting, in a pomegranate cave with his army of 600 men, for God to give him some direction on how to react to the Philistine army surrounding him. In the meantime, his son - Jonathan - understands what God has already told the nation of Israel to do; so he takes his armor bearer and heads off to initiate contact with the Philistine army.

Who are you going to be for the rest of your life? Saul or Jonathan?
